This recent body of work explores an amalgamation of techniques in building work and finished surface. Larger hand-built trays, thrown and handled mugs, pitchers and small cups are evolving. Brushed slips are evident in heavy swirl marks. Colored interiors of blue, pink, chartreuse and beige are new. Carved and drawn flora, slip trailing dots and stripes, masked layers and lines are techniques coupled to a growing glaze knowledge which reveal deeper surfaces and movement. Crystal growth emerges from the slow down-firing of the kiln, alternating brown to tan depending on thickness of glaze. As I've explored the dichotomy of the studio and the garden in works past, this new body explores it more fully, evoking seeds in soil, water across dirt, and trellis overgrown. Currently working towards new works for spring and summer 2019 sales so stay tuned!
